As a child, I decorated shoe boxes into rooms for small dolls, and I was fascinated by Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books because they centered on the closeness of family and home. Still, I was unsure of what my future held for me – the only things that I truly enjoyed were picking colors to paint our home and searching fabrics to furnish it. Acting on my passion was the answer.
balancing act
Family, home and work are harmoniously whole. I never separate one from another. That’s why I work from home. Beauty and function make a house, but family and happiness make it a home.
passion for fashion
Couture has been my muse from the start. It inspired, and still does, the slipcovers that launched my business. My design elements mirror my love of fashion. A lamp shade is a little dress and a slipcover is a skirt or ball gown. The secret, for me, is restraint – too many details and the beauty can be lost.
knowing when to listen
Comfort, beauty and practicality define my approach to design, but each project is unique, so understanding how clients live in their house is key to creating the perfect look.
